Met mijn linkerhand speel ik met de kruiden�die in mijn thee hangen, het lijkt een beetje op zeewier. De VD ruikt naar middag. Mijn vriendinnen zitten uitgeput tegenover me, we bespreken de week. De een meldt dat ze geen zin heeft in werk, deze opmerking wordt genegeerd. De regen slaat tegen het raam, wat is oktober toch fijn als je binnen zit bedenk ik me. In mijn broekzak trilt mijn telefoon, mama belt. Ik groet mijn moeder en zij vraagt hoelaat ik bij ze ben vanavond. Moe mompel ik dat mijn huis eerst schoon moet. Ze grinnikt en zegt nog iets, een paar seconden luister ik naar de pieptoon die zich een aantal keer herhaalt, tot dat ik apos;m wegdruk.

We staan op en wanneer ik mijn jas dichtdoe springt de derde knoop van mijn jas. De andere twee liggen op mijn nachtkastje en kijken me elke ochtend verontwaardigd aan. Ik houd de knoop in mijn hand, knijp er even in. Het is de bovenste van mijn nieuwe zwarte jas, een zwarte jassen met mosterdsoep vlekken die nog vaag te zien zijn van vorige week. Met een blote hals loop ik even later naar buiten, mijn sjaal zit in mijn tas en ik heb weinig zin om apos;m er uit te halen. De herfst is zacht en de zon werpt zijn licht weer even op de natte stoeptegels.

Ik raap kastanjes en houd grote bladeren tegen het licht. Even waan ik me ik me in mijn kindertijd, het blad bestuderende. De textuur, de kleur en de kleine adertjes blijven mijn aandacht vragen. Een paar uur later hangt de zwarte jas zonder bovenste en twee onderste knopen aan de kapstok van mijn ouders, de zakken gevuld met kastanjes en schetsjes van de week.

Hey Howdy Hi

Itapos;s been a little while, so I thought Iapos;d drop a minor update.

Iapos;m super-sick. It sucks. All I want is to feel better, but this illness has been going on for a long time ... At least Iapos;m on medication now. On the illness, I go to the doctor last Friday, and he takes a look in my ears, nose and throat. Then leaves the room to come back with the middle-ear pressure test. He makes some doctory "Oooo that isnapos;t good" noises. He writes something down and says, "Ok, the nurse will be in a second to take you for x-rays." And before I could be like, "Wait... What?" He was already out the door. So the nurse comes, I have facial x-rays, and then Iapos;m back in my room, waiting. Doctor comes back in a while later and says, "Well.... It isnapos;t *horrible*....." And then gives me a bunch of medicine.

So basically, I have a terrible sinus infection, that I just let go for too long. Now Iapos;m taking like horse pills of antibiotics. Iapos;m so stuffy, and Iapos;ve destroyed like a box and a half of tissues. I donapos;t even understand how thereapos;s anything left in my head to blow out. Disgusting? Oh, I know.

On a better note, Halloween is at hand. Iapos;m totally pumped Iapos;m still trying to figure out all of my events in the next 2 weeks for said Halloween. Oh, and also trying to fit homework and my video shoot into that. Fun fun. Ohh, and Sara Bareilles is going to be awesome. Miss Francesca is coming down for that. Should be fun. Iapos;ll try and post a big entry about how awesome the concert is. And Brandonapos;s party after that. Still trying to decide which costume is going out which night. Hm. Who knows. Necto Friday is most-def my Morning Star costume. I just got my crown. Itapos;s sick. All that needs to happen now is to figure out my make-up... But Iapos;ve already recruited Miss Francesca to help me with that. (Thanks dude)

Other than that, Iapos;m going to a haunted house later today with Matt and the Boy Wonder. I donapos;t know if anyone else is coming with us or not. Matt gets out of work at 5, so Iapos;ll ask him then. I donapos;t know what possessed me to agree to go to a haunted house. I donapos;t like being scared, and kind of hate horror movies for that reason. Haha this should be interesting. Oh, and tomorrow Iapos;m going to see EMUapos;s production of Romeo and Juliet with my Lit. Class. I think I wanna get all prettied out and blow peopleapos;s minds. Iapos;m usually (as like everyday of my life) in hoodies and jeans. Who knows, who knows.

Well peeps. I need to take a shower and clean my place before the events of today happen.

I donapos;t like the ballot system here. Republican and Democratic candidates have their party affiliation listed on the ballot, but all third party candidates are only listed as "Independent". That seems absurd, since it makes it very difficult for any third party to get a foothold in the system. I think it would be better for either all of the candidates to have their affiliation listed or not to list it at all. Of course, the parties in control donapos;t have any incentive change the system.

This election is over. Barack Obama will win. Likely as not, the Democrats will have more power in Washington than the Republicans dreamed of having.

Frankly, it blows my mind that this nation is about to decisively elect a man who openly consorts with terrorists who have killed Americans, who openly consorts with extortionists, who openly attended a church based on hating America, who has absolutely no executive experience, who has not even finished a full legislative term, and who is likely as not the most partisan politician in Washington.

He will defeat a sailor who went through untold misery for this nation, who has children fighting on the front lines in Iraq for us, who has built a career as a maverick by bucking his own party to forge bipartisan legislation on controversial issues, and who has years of experience.

Barack has promised everything: free health care, tax cuts for 95 of the country, free education that can be "earned" by community service, tax cuts for more employment, more troops in Afghanistan, more money to fight overseas poverty, more money for alternative fuels. We are told that this can all be paid for by ending the Iraq war and taxing oil companies more...any idiot can tell thatapos;s not true.

People want everything and they donapos;t want to earn any of it. For decades, people have been living beyond their means by credit, and now thatapos;s biting us in the ass. Surprisingly, if we bankrupt the government, things will get worse, not better.

So there is no more point fighting it. I will probably not have anything to say on this until January when Obama is inaugurated. After that, I intend to give Obama a fair shake, just like liberals gave George W. Bush.

Youapos;ve been warned.

Iapos;m reading through my senior thesis paper in preparation to revise it to be my writing sample, and Iapos;ve just reached the conclusion that not only was I�drunk when I�wrote it, my professor must have been drunk when she gave me an A on it. Iapos;ve never read so many irrelevant and poorly worded sentences in my life. I just read an entire paragraph that 1) contradicts the previous paragraph 2) only adds to my argument in the last 6 words and 3) has nothing whatsoever to do with those last 6 words. Iapos;m half way through and Iapos;m still not completely sure what my argument really is. Iapos;m getting kind of scared that there is no argument at all. I have a lot of work to do.�
